Travel style
Family trips
Short drives, warm rooms, no surprises
Hill roads are slow: 70 km can take three hours. Families travel better with fewer hotel changes, a mid-day stop and drives timed for after breakfast. We cap most transfer days at four or five hours.
Altitude matters with children and older travellers. Gangtok, Darjeeling and Pelling are fine for almost everyone; Tsomgo, Nathu La and Gurudongmar are not ideal for infants or anyone with heart or lung conditions. We tell you before you book.
