A Tibetan family-run hotel in a three-storey building right on Chowrasta. You step out of the door onto Darjeeling's main square, and the better rooms look across to the mountains. Rooms range from standard to suites, priced fairly for the location.

Few hotels in Darjeeling are as central as the Bellevue. It faces Chowrasta, the open square at the top of the Mall where the town gathers to walk, sit on the benches and watch the mountains. Reception is on the ground floor; the rooms are on the two floors above, reached by a staircase at the back of the building. Room types run from standard and deluxe to suites.

The appeal is simple: the town's main square is your front yard, Glenary's and Keventers are a few minutes away, and Observatory Hill is just above. Rooms are traditional rather than modern. Note that another hotel with a similar name, the Main Olde Bellevue, stands behind it and is a separate business, so check the name carefully when you book.

Can a car drop me at the Bellevue Hotel on Chowrasta

No. Chowrasta and the upper Mall are pedestrian, so taxis stop below on Gandhi Road or Laden La Road, roughly 5–10 minutes' walk away. Porters wait at the stands and charge around ₹100–200 a bag, indicative 2026. Agree the price before they lift anything, and pack light if you can.

Is the Bellevue the same as the Main Olde Bellevue Hotel

No. The Bellevue Hotel faces Chowrasta and is run by a Tibetan family. The Main Olde Bellevue is a different hotel behind it, with separate owners and bookings. Check the exact name and address on your booking confirmation so you arrive at the right door.
