Revolver
budget
Revolver takes its name from the 1966 Beatles album, and the theme runs through the whole house: posters, framed records and bits of memorabilia on the walls. There are five rooms, each named after a band member or Brian Epstein, plus a family room. Rooms are compact and warm, with private bathrooms. It suits travellers who want character for the price of an ordinary town hotel.
The small café on the ground floor is the real draw for many guests. Expect fresh coffee, simple breakfasts and set meals that mix Darjeeling home food with dishes from Nagaland, where one of the owners comes from. It sits off the main drag, so it is quieter at night than the hotels on Laden La Road, but Chowrasta and the Mall are an easy uphill walk.
Why we like it
- Character and a friendly welcome at a budget price
- Home-style Naga and local meals in the café
- Walkable to Chowrasta, the Mall and the shared-jeep stands
Watch out for
Only five rooms, so it fills early in October and May, and there is no lift or mountain view from most rooms.
Questions people ask
Good to know
Is Revolver hotel in Darjeeling good for families
It works for small families. Besides the five double rooms named after the Beatles and Brian Epstein, there is a family room. Rooms are compact, there is no lift and the house is on a slope, so families with very young children or grandparents who struggle with stairs may prefer a larger hotel on the Mall or Gandhi Road. Book well ahead for October and May.
Does Revolver Darjeeling serve food
Yes. The café downstairs serves fresh coffee, breakfasts and set meals that mix Darjeeling home cooking with Naga dishes. Meals are reasonably priced, roughly ₹250–500 a head for a set meal, indicative 2026. Many guests eat dinner in-house on cold evenings rather than walking back up to the Mall.
How far is Revolver from Chowrasta
It is a short uphill walk, usually 10–15 minutes, to Chowrasta and the Mall. The shared-jeep stands at the Chowk Bazaar motor stand are downhill and closer. Porters at the stand will carry heavy bags for a small fee, which we suggest agreeing before they lift anything, typically ₹100–200 a bag.
