Dekeling stands at the busy junction where Gandhi Road, Laden La Road and Nehru Road meet, about five minutes on foot from Chowrasta. The entrance is up a flight of stairs above the shops, and the hotel climbs several floors from there. Rooms are lined in wood, with heaters in winter, and the upper rooms look across to the hills and, on clear mornings, towards Kangchenjunga.
The family runs it with an eye on the details that matter in a cold town: hot water, extra blankets and a cosy common sitting area. The restaurant downstairs serves Tibetan dishes such as thukpa and momos alongside Indian and Continental food. Its position above the taxi stand makes early starts for Tiger Hill or long transfer days easy.

Where exactly is Dekeling Hotel in Darjeeling
At 51 Gandhi Road, at the junction with Laden La Road and Nehru Road, just above the Club Side car park and taxi stand. Chowrasta and the Mall are about five minutes uphill on foot. The central position saves taxi fares, and reserved cars for Tiger Hill can pick you up at the stand below at 4 am.
Does Dekeling Hotel have mountain views
Some rooms do. Upper-floor rooms facing north and east look over the hills, and on clear mornings from October to April you may see Kangchenjunga. Lower rooms and those facing the road do not. Ask for a view room when you book, and expect to pay more for it.
Is Dekeling Hotel good for older travellers
It is central and warm, which helps, but the entrance is up a flight of stairs from Gandhi Road, so check what lift access is available when you book if stairs are a problem. Ask for a lower floor if needed, and the staff can arrange porters for luggage from the taxi stand below.
