Is April a good time to visit North Sikkim?
April is one of the two best months. The Shingba sanctuary begins to flower from late April, snow remains on the peaks around Yumthang, and Gurudongmar is usually reachable though still largely frozen. Afternoons cloud over and can bring hail, so start sightseeing early. Dzongu is green and warm, with orchids in the forest. Book Lachung hotels ahead for the last week of April.
