Is March a good time to visit West and South Sikkim?
Spring starts. Rhododendrons begin to open on the Barsey ridge and along the trail above Yuksom by mid-month. Bumchu at Tashiding often falls in early March. Mornings are still good for Kangchenjunga, afternoons hazier. Trekking agencies start Goecha La departures late in the month. Temperatures are kind for walking, and the first village homestays reopen their gardens. It is a good month to pair Pelling with Okhrey and Barsey.
