Questions people ask
Good to know
Is November a good time to visit North Sikkim?
November brings cold, dry, clear weather and thin crowds. Autumn colour lingers around Lachung, and Gurudongmar starts to freeze from the edges; the lake is usually frozen over by late in the month. Early snow can fall on the passes. It is our favourite month for budget travellers who want clear skies without the Puja crowd, provided they pack properly for the cold.
What is the weather like in North Sikkim in November?
Lachung −2 to 12 °C, dry, very clear. Conditions differ by altitude and coast, so check the forecast for each stop a week before you travel.
Where should we go in North Sikkim in November?
We suggest Lachung, Gurudongmar Lake, Thangu and Chopta Valley. Pack thermals, a down jacket, gloves and a woollen cap; nights at Lachen dip below zero.
