Is February a good time to visit North Sikkim?
February is still snow season, with the heaviest falls often late in the month. Losar, the Tibetan new year, falls in February or early March, and Lachung and Lachen households celebrate it at home and in the gompas. Roads above Lachung and to Gurudongmar can be shut for days. Pack for −10 °C at dawn and keep a buffer day in Gangtok in case the permit office halts trips after snow.
