Is February a good time to visit Gangtok and East Sikkim?
February warms slowly. Losar, the Tibetan new year, often falls this month, bringing prayers at Rumtek and family celebrations in Gangtok. Tsomgo is still frozen or half frozen, which many visitors want to see, but snow can block the road beyond. Views of Kangchenjunga stay good on most mornings. Crowds are thin and rates are low.
