Is December a good time to visit Bhutan?
December is cold, dry and clear, with some of the best mountain views of the year and quiet dzongs. Cranes are in Phobjikha, Punakha's lower valley is pleasant, and Gasa's hot springs fill with Bhutanese bathers. National Day on 17 December brings celebrations. Snow can close Chele La and slow Pele La and Yotong La, so keep a spare day.
What is the weather like in Bhutan in December?
Thimphu −2–13 °C, dry, clear; snow possible on passes. Conditions differ by altitude and coast, so check the forecast for each stop a week before you travel.
