An old favourite about 4 km from Ravangla on the Gangtok–Pelling road, in two parts: a cheaper roadside wing and an upper annexe of cottages with lawns and views of Mount Narsing, Kabru and the Rangit valley.

Mt. Narsing Village Resort has hosted travellers on the Gangtok–Pelling road for a long time, well before the Buddha Park made Ravangla famous. The roadside wing is simple and cheaper; the annexe, about a kilometre up the hill, has cottage rooms set around open lawns, and that is where we would put families and couples who want the view. Families like the space; there is room for children to run on the grass and for older travellers to sit out in the sun.

On a clear morning between October and February the peaks of Narsing and Kabru stand over the valley, and the monasteries of South and West Sikkim dot the ridges below. The kitchen serves Sikkimese, Indian and Chinese dishes. You will want a car for the Buddha Park, Ralang and the Temi tea garden, all within a short drive. Drives are short: Ravangla town is about 4 km away and Ralang about 10 km. Ask for an annexe room with a view when you book.

Why we like it

  • Upper annexe cottages with lawns and wide mountain views
  • Handy stop on the Gangtok–Pelling road, about 4 km from Ravangla
  • Two wings mean a choice between budget and comfort rooms

Watch out for

It is out of town, so you need a car or a walk on the highway to reach Ravangla's shops and the Buddha Park, and the roadside wing is plainer than the annexe.

Questions people ask

Good to know

Which wing of Mt. Narsing Village Resort should I book

Book the upper annexe if you want views and quiet: its cottage rooms sit around lawns about a kilometre above the road and look out over Narsing, Kabru and the Rangit valley. The roadside wing is cheaper and fine for a one-night halt on the Gangtok–Pelling road, but the setting is plainer and you will hear traffic.

How far is Mt. Narsing Village Resort from the Buddha Park

The resort is about 4 km from Ravangla town and the Buddha Park lies just beyond the town, so it is a short drive of roughly 10–15 minutes. Walking is possible but the route follows the highway, which is not pleasant after dark. Ask the resort to arrange a local car for a half-day loop with Ralang Monastery.

Is Ravangla a good overnight stop between Gangtok and Pelling

Yes. Gangtok to Pelling is about 120 km and five hours of mountain road, and a night in Ravangla breaks it neatly in two. You get the Buddha Park and Ralang Monastery the same afternoon, a dawn view of the range, and a shorter, easier drive to Pelling the next morning.
