Questions people ask
Good to know
How far is Zero Point from Yumthang
Sources give between about 15 and 23 km, and the drive takes roughly an hour each way on a narrow mountain road. Adding Zero Point to the Yumthang morning usually means 2–3 extra hours, plus 20–40 minutes at the top.
When is Zero Point closed
Commonly from about mid-December through the snowiest part of winter, and at any time after heavy snowfall or on official instructions. Spring and autumn are the most reliable. In the monsoon, North Sikkim permits themselves are often suspended. Check current status before you travel.
Is Zero Point safe for everyone
No. At about 4,660 m it is unsuitable for children under five and for people with heart or lung conditions, and anyone can get altitude sickness. Healthy adults should stay only 20–40 minutes, walk slowly and descend at the first sign of serious symptoms.
Is Zero Point worth the extra money
On a clear day with a healthy, willing group, many people find it worth the ₹3,000–4,500 per vehicle for the snow and height. On a cloudy day, or with vulnerable travellers, it is not. Yumthang alone is a complete morning.
