Ways to make the journey
7–8 h with change
Take a shared jeep from Siliguri to Gangtok, ₹350–500 a seat, then another from Gangtok's North Sikkim stand to Mangan, ₹250–350. It is cheap but long, and the Mangan jeeps leave mainly in the morning, so you may need a night in Gangtok.
6–7 h
A reserved car can skip Gangtok and take the shorter route via Sevoke, Rangpo, Singtam and Dikchu straight to Mangan. Good for groups heading directly to Dzongu or Singhik. Indians need no permit as far as Mangan.
6–7 h
Some shared jeeps run from Siliguri directly to Mangan on certain days, mainly in the morning. Ask at the Sikkim jeep stands near Siliguri's SNT or Pradhan Nagar. Availability changes; do not rely on it for a tight plan.
