Steps up to the Sevoke Kali temple

The Sevokeshwari Kali temple sits on a forested slope just off the road at Sevoke, near the point where the routes to Sikkim and the Dooars divide. A steep flight of steps leads up from the roadside, with small shrines and bells on the way. Drivers and pilgrims often stop for a quick prayer and blessing before a long journey.
The climb takes 10–20 minutes, depending on your pace. At the top, the shrine is modest and busy with devotees on Tuesdays and Saturdays and during Kali Puja. Look back for a view over the Teesta and the forest of Mahananda.
Remove shoes where indicated, dress modestly, and keep small change for offerings if you wish. Monkeys may be around; keep food out of sight. Combine the visit with the Coronation Bridge and a cup of tea in Sevoke bazaar.
