Sinclairs Retreat Dooars occupies the top of the Chalsa rise, looking down over the small town, the tea gardens and the forests of Gorumara and Chapramari. Spread over about 20 acres, it has 66 rooms and three suites in cottage-style blocks, each with a balcony, plus an outdoor pool, a children's pool, a steam room, bicycles for guests, a multi-cuisine restaurant and a bar.

Its height gives it something Lataguri resorts lack: cooler evenings, a view, and distance from highway noise. Gorumara's towers, Chapramari and Murti are 15–30 minutes away, Samsing and Rocky Island about an hour. The hotel can arrange safaris and tea-garden visits. Rates vary sharply between peak holiday weeks and quieter months.

On the hilltop at Chalsa in Jalpaiguri district, overlooking the town and the forests of Gorumara and Chapramari. It is about 75–85 km and two hours from Siliguri, and 15–30 minutes from Lataguri, Murti and the Chapramari tower.

The hotel can help arrange cars and advise on safari bookings. Tickets are sold by the forest department online and at the Lataguri counter, so it is wise to book your slots early yourself, especially for weekends.
