Ways to make the journey
2–2.5 h
The easiest option, from NJP, Siliguri or Bagdogra. The road crosses the Teesta at the Coronation Bridge, runs through tea gardens and the forest edge past Odlabari and Malbazar, then enters the Gorumara forest belt before Lataguri. Most lodges can arrange a pickup. Ask for a short stop at Sevoke for the bridge.
2.5–3.5 h
NBSTC and private buses leave the Tenzing Norgay terminus for Malbazar, Maynaguri and Jalpaiguri. Some pass through Lataguri; for others, change at Malbazar to a shared vehicle or bus. Morning departures are best. Luggage goes on the roof or at the back.
2–3 h plus transfer
Trains on the Dooars line from Siliguri Junction and NJP stop at New Mal Junction, about 10 km from Lataguri. The Kanchankanya Express from Sealdah also stops there. From New Mal, take an auto or a lodge car to Lataguri. Check the timetable before you travel.
