Namchi to Temi Tea Garden
Your options
Ways to make the journey
45 min–1 h
The simplest way: drive up from Namchi, walk the estate roads for an hour, buy tea near the factory and either return or carry on to Ravangla. A half-day car also lets you add Samdruptse or Char Dham on the way back. In November, ask the driver to slow on the approach road for the cherry blossom.
1–1.5 h
Shared jeeps on the Namchi–Temi–Tarku and Namchi–Gangtok runs pass near the estate. They are infrequent and mostly in the morning. Tell the driver you want Temi Tea Garden and ask about return timings before you go. Check current status before you travel. A local taxi from Namchi is often easier.
Overnight
If you want the garden at its best, stay at Cherry Resort inside the estate. You can walk out early, when pickers are on the slopes in the flush seasons and the light is soft, and you avoid the midday tour groups altogether. Book ahead for November.

Questions people ask
Good to know
How far is Temi Tea Garden from Namchi
About 16–20 km, depending on the road and which part of the estate you head for, which is 45 minutes to an hour by car. It is also about the same distance from Ravangla and around 60 km from Gangtok, so it fits neatly into a South Sikkim loop.
Is there an entry fee for Temi Tea Garden
Walking the estate roads has generally been free. Factory visits, when allowed, may carry a small charge or be limited to certain hours, so ask at the gate. Packets of Temi tea are on sale near the factory. Check current status before you travel, as rules for visitors can change.
What is the best time to visit Temi Tea Garden
Spring, March to May, for the first flush and plucking on the slopes, and October to November for clear skies, the second half of the season and cherry blossom along the approach road in November. Monsoon months are lush but wet and cloudy. Mornings are best in any season.
Can I combine Temi Tea Garden with Ravangla and Namchi in one day
Yes, with a reserved car. A good order is Ravangla's Buddha Park in the morning, Temi at midday, then Samdruptse and Char Dham above Namchi in the afternoon. It is a full but comfortable day of about 60 km. Shared jeeps make this much harder.
